Un artículo de Brian Latell en The Miami Herald desarrolla una extraña teoría para explicar por qué Raúl Castro citó un discurso de Fidel de 1973 el pasado 26 de julio:
Raúl’s reasons for dredging up Fidel’s old speech are not clear. Perhaps he intended only to lionize his brother — highlighting all of the self-congratulation of the 1973 speech — and to bolster faith in the revolutionary process and institutions now under such stress. And maybe, too, the focus on Fidel was because his health today does not warrant the expectation that he will survive until the next Moncada anniversary.
But the practical Raúl may also have had more pressing reasons for reviving that old speech. Doctrines that Fidel expounded in it may now be quoted to validate liberalizing economic reforms. And, recalcitrant leaders who object to such reforms, believing the dogmatic Fidel opposes them, may now be trumped by their idol’s own words of 35 years ago.
Por lo visto, la teoría del hermano bueno y el hermano malo sigue haciendo estragos. A ese paso, dentro de poco Latell podrá entrar a dar clases de hermeneútica en alguna universidad, y nosotros seguiremos esperando que afloren esas “tensiones internas” de las que habla el analista.

Chico, con Raul pasa lo mismo que con Obama: “he can do no evil.” Siempre tiene alguien (o “alguienes”) que le limpie la casa, le pula la imagen, le recoja el estiércol. Muchos de estas sandeces que se dicen estan en la cabeza del que las piensa solamente. Es como si yo dijera que cuando me como un chicharrón de puerco lleno de grasa, estoy contribuyendo a mi salud. Es decir, porque lo pineso debe se verdad aunqye mañana me muera de un infaro. Es decir, que estos estudiosos del tema cubano se comen muchos chicharrones mentales.
